Tracks
Tracks are individual layers of audio or musical parts within a song or music project, each typically containing a specific element of the production such as drums, vocals, bass, guitars, synthesizers, or sound effects; in music production these multiple tracks are arranged together to build the full structure of a song, with each track adjustable independently so that producers and engineers can control its volume, panning, timing, and audio effects within the overall mix—tracks can hold either recorded audio or MIDI data that triggers virtual instruments and synthesizers (for example, one track may contain a vocal recording while another controls a software piano or drum machine), and they are commonly created and organized within digital audio workstations such as Ableton Live, FL Studio, and Logic Pro, which allow musicians and producers to layer many tracks, edit them precisely, and combine them into a finished music production.
