Vocalists

Vocalists are musicians who perform music using their voices, singing melodies, delivering lyrics, and often serving as the central expressive element in many songs across a wide range of musical genres; while typically performing the lead melody, they may also sing harmonies, background parts, or layered vocal lines that support the main performance, thereby communicating the emotional tone and story of the song through vocal expression and lyrical delivery; different types of vocalists—including lead singers, background singers, and choir members—appear in music, with some specializing in specific styles such as pop singing, opera, rap, or spoken‑word performance, and in modern music production these vocal performances are usually recorded with microphones before being edited and processed via digital audio workstations such as Ableton Live, FL Studio, and Logic Pro, where producers commonly apply effects like compression, reverb, delay, and pitch correction to enhance the vocal sound within a mix.
